Toms River 40 Days For Life

Vigil Attendee Information Sheet

Your presence at the abortion clinic is invaluable. By your courageous public witness, you are helping to transform hearts toward the culture of life. Following is some information we ask each attendee to review:

♦ You may wish to bring the following to the clinic: prayer aids, cell phone, lawn chair, extra clothing for change in weather, and if your shift is later in the day, a flashlight or candle.

♦ Please park on Harley Street and not in the parking lot behind the abortion clinic or the Sovereign Bank's lot. Harley is a residential street so please be aware of mailboxes and driveways.

♦ We are legally free to pray on the sidewalks parallel to Harley Street and in the grass by Route 37 in front of the abortion clinic (for those wishing to hold signs and witness to those traveling on Route 37)

♦ There will be a plastic box on site. Included in this box are flyers to give anyone who wish to know more about what we are doing and the 40 Days for Life campaign, information about abortion and post-abortion healing for public distribution (if a need arises), a vigil schedule if you wish to know who will be with you, and a list of contacts.

♦ Try to maintain a prayerful, peaceful atmosphere at all times, remembering that we are here to reflect God’s love to all. There may be people who disagree or seem angry that you are here praying. Remember, they may be hurting from an abortion experience and are in need of healing. Please do not engage in arguments with anyone--the best response is no response and say a silent prayer for God to change their hearts and heal them. It is only God's grace which will help them see the truth about the evil of abortion, which is what 40 Days for Life is all about.

♦ There will be signs at the abortion clinic for your use. We only ask that you leave them at the clinic for the other vigil shifts.

♦ If no one relieves you at the end of your shift, please call either Mario or Sandy (#’s will be in plastic box) as soon as you have access to a phone to let them know there is no one on site. It is highly likely the signs will be taken if left unattended for any length of time.

♦ Please comply with any reasonable requests made by a police officer. If the request doesn’t seem necessary (for example, having to constantly move during your prayer shift), get the name and badge number of the officer making the request, comply accordingly, then call Deacon Frank at the number in the plastic box onsite to confirm that the request is lawful and justifiable.
